Sweet and Sour Chicken

This is the recipe of the first dinner I remember making as a child. I found it in a magazine and told my mom it looked good and she said why don't you make it for dinner. I did and I have never looked back, I love to cook!

Sweet and Sour Chicken

4-8 chicken breast halves
1 egg, beaten
cornstarch
oil

Sauce: (I usually double the sauce because I like it really saucy.)
¾ cup sugar
4 tablespoons ketchup
½ cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Dip the chicken breasts into the egg, then roll them in the cornstarch. In a small amount of oil, fry the chicken until just browned. Place the chicken in a shallow baking pan, pour the sauce over it, and bake it uncovered at 325* for on hour, turning the chicken every 15 minutes. To make the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients together.
